CHALLENGE

Bollygood was fading into the background on shelves and failed to effectively convey the unique, flavorful experience of the beverage. Additionally, many U.S. consumers were unfamiliar with “Nimbu Pani,” making it necessary to position the brand as something fresh and exciting while maintaining a sense of familiarity.

Solution

Founder Maxine Henderson wanted to capture the essence of her childhood summers in Karola, India, where she savored fresh nimbu pani. Her modern adaptation of the traditional beverage introduces a sparkling twist and exciting new flavors to the classic lemon or lime base.

The Bollygood team emphasized creating a bold flavor experience that brings the vibrant spirit of India to grocery aisles. Drawing inspiration from India’s beautiful chaos and multi-sensory richness, we refreshed the brand to reflect this essence. We unified the design with red, a color deeply rooted in Indian culture, retained the playful elephant as a nod to the founder’s cherished memories, and amplified the flavor cues with vivid illustrations and bright, eye-catching colors. Radiating bursts on the packaging further draw attention, making the product impossible to miss on the shelf.
